News Flash: It’s Not About You.

Bright natural dining room nook with vases plates and fruits on the table.

Now this one is a tough one to write, because you are probably going through a strange, scary and difficult time too.

I don’t want you to feel that your issues are during this time are not valid. And I don’t want you to feel like you can’t, or shouldn’t, take care of yourself and your family.

Do that. Take care of all you need to.

And take care of yourself while you’re at it, but I want you to do something else.

It’s not about you.

Take a step back. Realize that it’s not about you. At least, not just about you.

Remember that even in all of this, that you are struggling with and all that you are going through, you are so blessed.

But please don’t misunderstand me.

I’m not telling you this to make you feel guilty.

What I am saying is take everything into perspective.

With all that is going, you have managed to keep going. To keep working, caring, and above all, kept your faith in God.

That is more than what many other people can say.

Where do you fit in all of this?

So take a moment to think on how can you help someone else realize how blessed they are.

I’m not saying you need to try to save the world and donate all the money you have. But find ways of how you can help someone else get through this hard time too.

Something as simple as a phone call to check in on a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while. Or maybe sending $20 or $30 to a family member/friend who could use a push.

Or even donating your time (safely) or donating a basket of canned goods to a nearby church or outreach program.

There are so many simple small things that you can do that will help you take the focus off yourself, and can remind you how blessed you really are.

While I know you may be struggling right now too, you are not alone – the Bible says when we are weak than He is strong.

Let God be your strength.

Keep relying on and trusting in God. Also, take some of that strength that He’s given you, and share it with someone else who might need it too.

As always, I’m praying for you.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)
